Project title: Integration of hydrogen technologies into climate adaptation systems
Abbreviation: HyAdapt
Funding: Competitiveness and Cohesion Programme 2021–2027; European Fund for Regional Development
Support: Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition
Intermediate Body Level 2 (IB2) responsible for project monitoring: Central Finance and Contracting Agency
Coordinator: University of Zagreb Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture
Partner: City of Karlovac
Project Leader: Assoc. Prof. Ankica Kovač, PhD, University of Zagreb Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture

Project description

The HyAdapt project contributes to climate change adaptation measures by developing and demonstrating an integrated system for the production and use of green hydrogen. By using solar energy to power an electrolyzer, the project develops a sustainable energy solution that is used for two key applications: (1) electricity supply during power outages and (2) clean, zero-emission transportation.

Through applied research, the project will analyze the technical feasibility, impact on CO2 emissions reduction, cost-effectiveness and possibilities for wider application. The project will result in new technological solutions that can function autonomously in emergency situations and natural disasters.
